Given its high ratings on Goodreads and Amazon, along with multiple podcast recommendations, I expected a lot from “On Grief and Grieving” by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and David Kessler. Surprisingly, it was a massive disappointment. Half the text is spent on highly dubious anectdotes, every single page, so many that I found myself skimming way before the 30 page mark, and finally gave up shortly after.
Whereas the excellent “The Loss Prescription” by Dr Chloe Paidoussis-Mitchell empathetically uses statistics, actionable activities and habits, and lists of other recommended resources to support your grieving, “On Grief” just wanders around vaguely.
One to avoid.
